Archive vs Restored

Our "Archive" reproductions preserve the look of the whole item, untrimmed, with many of the actual signs of aging and wear unique to the source item scanned.

These are great for those who value historical authenticity, and like the feeling of owning a high-grade copy of the real item. Provenance details, CGC grade, and auction valuations refer to the source copy scanned.

Our "Restored" reproductions offer a clean, uniform border, and minimal signs of wear— great for those who want to enjoy an ideal version of the item closer to how it appeared when originally produced.

About the Art

A vivid tableau of peril and mysticism, Gus Ricca’s cover captures the Golden Age hero wielding his Ibistick with the elegant Taia fending off snarling panthers and a sinister, hooded villain. The Promise Collection copy (CGC 9.6, $1,560) scanned for this print survives as one of three 9.6-grade.

Gus Ricca

Gaspano “Gus” Ricca (1906–1956), a Brooklyn-born illustrator, blended grotesque symbolism and lush pen-work in covers for Dynamic Comics, Punch Comics, and publishers like Chesler, ACG, and Fawcett. A self-taught artist influenced by magazine work (Liberty, Collier’s), his nightmarish aesthetic redefined 1940s comic horror.
