Syd Shores

Syd Shores (1916–1973) was a pivotal Golden Age comic artist and inker known for his dynamic realism and Alex Raymond-inspired style. A Pratt Institute graduate, he shaped Timely/Marvel’s iconic Captain America and Sub-Mariner, later defining titles like The Black Rider and Kid Colt. His versatile postwar work spanned gritty men’s adventure magazines and Silver Age classics, leaving a legacy as Jack Kirby’s collaborator and Gene Colan’s mentor.
