Bob Powell

Bob Powell (1916–1967), born Stanley Pawlowski, honed his dynamic chiaroscuro noir style at NYC’s Pratt Institute. His fluid action art defined Sheena, Queen of the Jungle, cult-favorite Mars Attacks cards, and Marvel’s Daredevil co-creation. Working pseudonymously (e.g., Arthur Dean), he shaped mid-century comics’ visual language with genre-spanning impact.
