About the Art

The cover of This Magazine is Haunted #20 encapsulates the grim aesthetic of mid-century horror comics, with its lurid depiction of a skeletal figure sinking its teeth into a screaming victim. Illustrated by Seymour Moskowitz, the exaggerated anatomy and vivid color palette heighten the grotesque drama, reflecting the era's fascination with pulp horror and the macabre. Doctor Death, the series' spectral narrator, looms in a chilling inset portrait, reinforcing his role as an arbiter of doom.

Published during Charlton Comics' brief stewardship of the title, this issue exemplifies post-war anxieties and the genre's shift toward psychological terror amidst censorship pressures.
