Archive vs Restored

Our "Archive" reproductions preserve the look of the whole item, untrimmed, with many of the actual signs of aging and wear unique to the source item scanned.

These are great for those who value historical authenticity, and like the feeling of owning a high-grade copy of the real item. Provenance details, CGC grade, and auction valuations refer to the source copy scanned.

Our "Restored" reproductions offer a clean, uniform border, and minimal signs of wear— great for those who want to enjoy an ideal version of the item closer to how it appeared when originally produced.

About the Art

A striking fusion of post-war atomic fascination and pulp artistry, Matt Baker's cover captures the era’s anxieties and ambitions with Lucky Wings, the Atomic Blondshell, confronting a surreal energy projector. The Promise Collection pedigree copy (CGC 9.6, $9,600) scanned for this print survives as one of only two highest-graded examples.

Matt Baker

Matt Baker (1921–1959) was a pioneering African American Golden Age comic artist, acclaimed for his “good girl” style that redefined heroines as confident and sensuous. A Cooper Union graduate, his iconic work on Phantom Lady, It Rhymes with Lust (a proto-graphic novel), and Canteen Kate blended dynamic artistry with progressive characterizations.
