About the Art

This December 1945 issue of Wings Comics showcases Lee Elias’s dynamic cover art, capturing the intensity of World War II aerial combat with a striking depiction of U.S. bombers and enemy aircraft engulfed in fiery explosions.

The bold colors and dramatic composition reflect the era's fascination with aviation warfare, a theme central to Fiction House’s wartime publications. Captain Wings, the heroic aviator, embodies the patriotic spirit of mid-20th-century America, resonating with readers during a time of global conflict. The cover’s meticulous detail and action-packed imagery underscore the Golden Age comic tradition of blending entertainment with wartime propaganda.
