Joe Maneely

Joe Maneely (1926–1958), a Philadelphia-born artist trained at Hussian School of Art, defined 1950s comics with his versatile, dynamic style. Known for crisp, etched inks and genre-spanning mastery, he co-created Atlas Comics’ Black Knight, Yellow Claw, and Ringo Kid. Stan Lee hailed him as Marvel’s lost visionary, cut short by a tragic train accident at 32.
